Unplugged Play – Rising Trend
Since millennials make up the young parents of today, we see a push/pull trend towards tech and no tech. It is impossible to stop the tech trend and their children’s dependency of devices of all kinds. Parents are seeking a certain ‘unplugged play’ where children can use their imaginations, save their eyes from glaring screens and hopefully getting fresh air. The feeling and look is of a simpler time, sometimes pre-dating the parents who were born in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I’ve noticed a lot more outdoor games and activities promoting time away from their screens.

While the look and feel of outdoor adventure trend is designs that reflect yester year, arts and crafts are trendingMore colorful and modern. Todd Oldham, a multi-faceted American design, consults in the Kid Made Modern Company which features very beautiful, unique and fun arts supplies. The trend is to get kids away from their devices but the approach varies by category. Arts & Crafts definitely leans modern with fun, cheerful characters.

I definitely noticed more pop-up tents but the look is more ‘home décor’ and more modern rather than the very bright with license art of the past. Perhaps parents feel that the tent is something that has to ‘match’ their house furniture or because Millennial parents tend to purchase things that represent their style, but I’ve noticed that there is a rising trend to tone down and modernize indoor play tents that encourage unplugged play and imagination.

我發(fā)現(xiàn)了很多彈出式帳篷,但是看起來更像是“家居裝飾”,更加現(xiàn)代,而非十分鮮亮的,帶有過去的藝術(shù)特色。也許父母們認(rèn)為帳篷也應(yīng)該搭配他們的家具,或是因?yàn)榍ъ淮改競儯瑑A向于購買呈現(xiàn)他們的風(fēng)格的產(chǎn)品。但我也注意到一個(gè)上升趨勢,即柔和并且現(xiàn)代化室內(nèi)游戲帳篷,以鼓勵(lì)不插電的游戲和想象力。
